History of the Joseph Agbeko Foundation

The Joseph Agbeko Foundation (JAF) was established in 2015 with a mission deeply rooted in the personal journey of its founder, Joseph Agbeko. As a former juvenile boxer who rose through the ranks to become a world champion, Agbeko recognized the struggles that many young boxers faced—immense talent often overshadowed by a lack of support and opportunities. Unlike many of his peers, he was fortunate to have the right management and team to guide him to global success. This experience fueled his determination to give back by nurturing the next generation of athletes.

What began in Oyarifa, Greater Accra, as an initiative to support juvenile boxing has since evolved into a holistic development program. JAF now focuses not only on boxing but on building well-rounded individuals through sports. By leveraging the core values and discipline learned in the ring, the Foundation has created a unique methodology that extends beyond athletics to personal and professional growth.

Today, JAF empowers youth through four key pillars: Sports, Mental Health, Education, and Mentorship. By integrating the resilience and discipline ingrained in boxing, the Foundation develops young leaders who are equipped to face life’s challenges. Additionally, JAF’s sustainable gym model ensures access to fitness facilities while generating revenue to support its long-term impact. Through its work, the Foundation continues to inspire, transform, and uplift the next generation.
